Brakes are safety-critical. Worn pads damage discs; scored discs reduce stopping power and can fail an MOT on performance or condition.
Warning signs
- Squealing or grinding when braking
- Pedal vibration or steering pull under braking
- Longer stopping distances or soft pedal
- Brake warning light on the dashboard
Pads only vs pads and discs
If discs are within thickness and run true, replacing pads may be enough. If discs are lipped, heavily scored or below minimum thickness, we replace pairs on the same axle for balanced braking.
MOT and brakes
Testers measure efficiency and check for leaks, seizure and insecure components. Fixing brakes before the MOT avoids a fail and retest fees.
